Timeline of the American Civil Rights Movement- A site targeted at young people from Western Michigan University covering the period 1954 to 1965. Not a lot of detail but a good quick overview with some good photographs.

The National Civil Rights Museum online - A well developed site with a good deal of interesting detail about people and key aspects of the early days of the civil rights movement. Check out the "interactive tour."
